FACTS

As many as 80% of physiotherapists using manual therapy techniques report significant levels of thumb pain as a result of their clinical workload (Cromie et al 2000)..learn more

Three of the leading causes of thumb pain amongst manual therapists are: Trigger Point Therapy, Spinal Mobilisation, and Soft Tissue Massage (Snodgrass et al 2003)..learn more

The repetitive movements, production of large forces with the upper limbs and maintenance of awkward postures are risk factors for thumb injury when applying Trigger Point Therapy (Cromie et al 2000, Bork et al 1996, Sjogaard and Sjogaard 1998)..learn more
Introducing TriggerMate®

TriggerMate®, the clinical tool for therapists, was developed after many years in manual therapy practice carrying out soft tissue techniques, especially Trigger Point Therapy, and experiencing a constant dull ache in the joints at the base of the thumbs.

The problem: “Is it possible to apply sustained, constant, firm pressures in oftentimes awkward positions for long periods without making my thumbs hurt?”

In finding a solution, most importantly, it was necessary to maintain direct tactile contact with the patient, rather than pressing an “artificial”, plastic surface into their tissues.

Enter: …the elbow… and TriggerMate®, which turns the elbow into a localised, stabilised and reinforced treatment tool, involving both upper limbs, and offering you very clear tactile feedback from the underlying tissues!

Besides TriggerMate® providing an effective alternative to applying pressure through the thumbs, University research has recently proven TriggerMate® to be the most efficient method of applying elbow techniques compared to conventional techniques...view research

TriggerMate® was developed from a clinical need and, over 6 years of trials and testing, has undergone several significant design changes.

The final product is the culmination of this extensive testing process, which has included input from manual therapists both in Australia and the UK, all of whom have felt the benefits of TriggerMate® when applied in clinical practice.
